Sawlist

The order arrives with the cut list.

Sawlist is a furniture configurator for made-to-measure workshops. Your customer sets any size, layout and finish and sees a price; the order comes with its parts to cut, a STEP model and the design. Try it on this sideboard.

The cut list, sheet layout and files for this unit

What the workshop receives

The cut list of the unit above, as its CAD model measures the parts: sizes in mm, length × width × thickness. It changes as you change the sideboard.

Sheet layout

The panels above, laid out on standard boards for the panel saw.

  • Part, numbered as the cut list
  • Offcut to keep, 300 × 300 mm or more
  • Waste

Boards of 2800 × 2070 mm (plywood 2440 × 1220); a 4 mm saw kerf between parts and 10 mm trimmed off every edge. Each thickness, material and finish has its own boards, veneer and wood finishes keep their grain along the board, and every cut runs straight across, as a panel saw cuts. Waste is what can't be used again: the saw's cuts, the trimmed edges and offcuts too small to keep.

Files

The cut list, the sheet layout, the STEP model, the design and a one-page summary, in one file.

Example price

An example with made-up rates, not a quote. A shop puts in its own: boards by area and finish, edging and cutting by panel, hardware by count.

How it was built

35 bodies, rebuilt in 159 ms in advance by a real CAD engine from one parametric design. Its parameters:

    Your range, made configurable.

Sawlist turns the furniture you make into configurators like this one, for your own website.

    How it works

    1. Your productYou send a drawing or one unit, the sizes you allow and how you build it.
    2. One designIt is modelled as one parametric CAD design: sizes and options become parameters, and rules stop what you can't make.
    3. On your siteThe configurator runs in your customer's browser, on your page, in your finishes, at your rates.
    4. The orderEach order arrives with its cut list, a STEP model and the design file, ready for the saw or CAM.

    What the shop gets

Every order brings its cut list as a CSV for your saw or nesting software, and its STEP model goes straight into CAM. Nobody redraws an email.

    • Rules before orders

Sizes and options you can't build are stopped while the customer chooses, and the page says why.

    • No server per view

The engine runs in the customer's browser: no fee per session, per rebuild or per order.

    • Your rates

The price comes from your board, edging, cutting and hardware rates. The ones here are made up.

    • Files you keep

Each design is a CAD file in an open format, opened by free, open-source software, so nothing is locked away.

    • On a phone

It works with a thumb, with a keyboard, and without a 3D view the cut list is still there.

    • Your range only

No catalogue and no other brands: only the pieces you make, in your materials.
